What is the purpose of religion?  Many people think religion is a bit old-fashioned; that is has no purpose in a modern and advanced society.  Sociologists may suggest that religion is something invented by communities to explain the mysteries of life, and that it contains no real truth.  Others believe religion is a tool of the powerful to control the weak.  Are any of these right?

What does God think?  Jesus of Nazareth revealed God's purpose when he said: "My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life." (John 10:10, NLT)  Who is "them"?  It is you.  It is me.  Every other power wants to take something from us; but God wants to give.  He gave us His Son; and if we are willing to receive, He gives us life in abundance.
